Info
As the successor organisation to Bildungshaus Schloss Großrußbach, Bildungsakademie Weinviertel offers a space for lifelong education and personal development.
With a wide range of events in the areas of theology & spirituality, personality & relationships, environment & health and culture & creativity, it makes a significant contribution to promoting individual growth and strengthening social cohesion.
In our baroque premises, we offer a unique ambience for our changing exhibitions as well as a unique setting for our educational events - with a wow effect. The centrepiece of our ensemble of rooms is the State Hall with its painted linen wallpaper from the 18th century. It is a real jewel in the Weinviertel region.
The tradition, history and wealth of experience
of Bildungshaus Schloss Großrußbach form the roots for the blossoming of the Weinviertel Education Academy. It organises lectures, readings, vernissages, seminars and courses. It sees itself as a source of inspiration for the Weinviertel region. Regional projects are initiated, developed and realised together with communities and associations. These synergies open up special quality and a wealth of opportunities.
Personal and social questions are explored and answers are found by means of new and innovative educational paths.
The Weinviertel Education Academy sees itself as a place of holistic adult education and aims to promote a deeper understanding of the world and God on the basis of science and theologically reflected faith.
Our guiding principles
Education - open to the big questions of life
Education - rooted in people's lives
Education - interwoven with humanity and transcendence
Education - connected with body, mind and soul
Education - focussed on the needs of people
The Bildungsakademie has a tradition of over 70 years in the Weinviertel region. Founded in 1953 as the adult education centre ‘Schloss Großrußbach’, the team has been organising regional adult education in various forms for decades. This shared tradition in the north-eastern part of Austria sets it apart from other providers.
Ideas from the region are taken up and realised in many projects.
For example, a summer pilgrimage week became the ‘Way of St James in the Weinviertel’ project, where over 150 km of pilgrimage routes have been supervised by volunteers for 15 years. Thanks to the commitment to the hospice movement, several hundred employees have been trained in the area of ‘life, death and grief counselling’ for the region.
The Großrußbach public library and the book bus are an exemplary collaboration between eight municipalities and the Academy of Education. They offer a wide range of media and literature and are central weekly meeting points in the villages.
Wide range of Catholic adult education programmes with a focus on ‘life, death and grief counselling’. Pilgrimage projects are realised on an ongoing basis.
