Education is the basis for a humanistic society. The Schloss St. Martin educational centre is known for its professional
educational programmes and excellent cuisine. As an institution of the Province of Styria, we pursue the approach of lifelong learning by offering low-threshold programmes at the cutting edge. Learning is an ‘open-ended’ event in the human life course.

In addition to general adult education, we specialise in family education and art & culture.

The aim of our formats is to equip people with personal, interpersonal and civic skills so that they can actively participate as citizens in shaping society and help to secure peace and freedom. We promote a holistic approach to adult education. Education has become the epitome of being able to deal with rapidly changing social and economic challenges.

The Renaissance castle of St. Martin is a jewel on the outskirts of Graz and offers ideal conditions for in-house events as well as guest events of all kinds. The proximity to the city on the one hand and the unmistakable atmosphere with its picturesque arcaded courtyard on the other make every educational programme a holistic experience.

Our castle kitchen cooks fresh meals every day. We use regional and seasonal ingredients from Styria. Our juices from our own organic orchard are our USP all year round.

Overnight accommodation is available for seminar participants in newly furnished castle rooms with a distant view over Graz and is very popular.

St. Martin Castle plays an important role in the Graz-Strassgang district. We are an event venue for many regional organisations. The castle courtyard is a popular art and cultural venue, especially for the local population.

The newly restored St Martin's Castle Church is a very popular wedding and christening church and, with its baroque interior, is an inseparable part of the castle ensemble. It is also much in demand as a concert venue due to its excellent acoustics.
 

Education works ... when the needs and interests of the participants are met. At Bildungshaus Schloss St. Martin, the effectiveness is documented above all in vocational training and further education programmes.

Which vocational qualifications are particularly in demand?

Agricultural pedagogy: St. Martin is an official branch of the University of Agricultural and Environmental Pedagogy Vienna and therefore a training centre for all agricultural pedagogues in Styria. The effectiveness of the educational formats is directly visible in the agricultural colleges. 95 per cent of graduates have a permanent apprenticeship or job after leaving school and are sought-after specialists in the economy.

Elementary education: Our training programmes for childcare workers and childminders have been an important part of our educational offering for decades. There are currently 50 places available. Most of the participants are already working already working in the various childcare centres at the start of their training.

Care assistant: We organise an annual training course in cooperation with Caritas. The demographic development in Austria requires competently trained carers. The graduates are already integrated into the labour market during their internships. The training programme at St. Martin Castle enjoys an excellent reputation throughout the country.
